A multitude of questions normally flow through my head when life forces me to make critical decisions. A few examples of this would be, “Why do I need to work 60 hours a week just to pass some random exams at the end of the semester?” or “If I’m gonna work a lot, shouldn’t I work on something I feel passionate about?” or “Does taking up this lucrative role really give me enough time to spend at home?”. If these are some questions that are in your head too, you have arrived at the right space to seek answers.

There are a lot of famous quotes out there that people often turn to for guidance and motivation. I also learned that it does not matter if something is cliché as long as it’s true. That said, I’m going to share with you today some of my personal favourite quotes that have inspired me or given me that boost that I needed when I first read it.

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” — Bruce Lee

Who does not love an epic Bruce Lee quote? I always idolized and looked upto him. Lee was an energetic, passionate and hard-working individual whose philosophies are still profoundly relevant in the marketing world. This quote helped me achieve clarity during many moments in my life and helped me navigate through them seamlessly.

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” — Jim Rohn

This quote particularly interests me since I realized that motivation is temporary, but what really gets the ball rolling is when it becomes a habit. The king of self-improvement does know what he is talking about. Habits occur daily, they can be good or bad, but it is up to us to choose which path we would like to follow. I would recommend implementing positive daily habits that guide us to the destination we want to reach.

“Live life as if everything is rigged in your favour.” — Rumi

Failure is part of life, we all acknowledge it. Think about it this way, what would you do with your life if you knew you would not fail? This thought provoking question helps me take on my daily tasks without any sweat. It helps me focus my energy towards the positives in life, which translates into heightened productivity.

“You will get all you want in life if you help enough people get what they want.” — Zig Ziglar

Being in marketing, the value of helping people is unparalleled and if you are not genuinely doing it, it will not monetize your product or service for too long. I have been exposed to situations where big businesses crumble because they do not know what the customer wants. I’ll save my comments on that practice for another post, but always remember that the customer is always king for any business to be successful.

“Comfort is the enemy of progress” — PT Barnum

Never be complacent, as it can really be your downfall. We must always look towards improving ourselves and fostering learning engagements in order to make more informed decisions. If we get comfortable, we lose track of new experiences. I always try placing myself in uncomfortable situations to thrive in them and emerge successful.

“You can tell how smart a man is by the answers he gives, you can tell how wise he is by the questions he asks.” — Anonymous

I love this quote because I always believed that asking the right questions were always more important than the answers themselves. I have a weird obsession with asking questions. Luckily enough for me, people have indulged in them to feed my curiosity. This is a great quote for someone who is ready to completely delve into the basics to obtain answers.

“There’s no one to perform for. There is just work to be done and lessons to be learned, in all that is around us.” — Ryan Holiday

The existence of social media has led to people creating their best self or curating a life which does not really exist. Although, if you are smart enough to look past that you will realize that they are performing for the wrong audience. You do not need an audience to do things, just be content in doing things that matter. I follow this extensively through my tasks and actions. I do my due diligence and whatever happens after is just FINE.
